How do I get a fence permit?
You may or may not need a fence permit for your fence installation. In order to confirm, you will need to contact your local municipality. If a permit is required, the list below is a good start of the information that you will probably be expected to provide.
PROPERTY & OWNER INFORMATION
All property information (location, address & city) and owner contact information (name, phone & email) will be required.
FENCE CONTRACTOR/INSTALLER INFORMATION
All contractor and/or installer information (company name, installer name (s), address, city, state & zip) and all their contact information (phone & email) will be required.
- Location on property – front, side or rear yard (s)
- Fence type – open, semi-open, or solid (privacy)
- Fence Material (s) – wood vinyl, metal, or other
- What will be the height of the fence?
- Is there an existing fence in the proposed location, and if so, will it be removed.
DRAWING OF FENCE LAYOUT
A drawing that details what and where on the property, as well as how far from property lines.

A picture that shows where the fence will be installed.
